Aylyarov Wins K-1 World Grand Prix Euro
After going through three bouts in what’s known as one of the most grueling tournaments — the K-1 World Grand Prix Euro — Russia’s Timur Aylyarov came out the victorious -85kg champion.
The final bout of the evening saw Aylyarov take on Igor Emkic (BiH). Aylyarov managed to get to the finals with wins over Vasil Ducar from the Czech Republic and Croatia’s Agron Preteni, in the first round and semifinals, respectively. Emkic, on the other hand, scored victories over Italy’s Giuseppe de Domenico in the first round and France’s David Radeff in the semis.
The final was completely energetic and both fighters came out with explosive shots. Things looked well for Emkic, but Aylyarov sent him down to the canvas in the second round. After that, the bout was all-Aylyarov, and after another knockdown, the referee stopped the bout and awarded the fight to the Russian.
In the reserve bout, Mesud Selimovic from Bosnia scored a first-round knockout over Croatia’s Petar Jamak.
