Bam Rodriguez Stops Estrada In The Seventh

Jesse Rodriguez stopped Juan Francisco Estrada in round seven.

Rodriguez dominated the fight but had to get off the canvas in round six. Rodriguez attempted to close the range and attack the midsection to slow Estrada down early on, landing his power shots. Estrada hit back with a left hook in the second, but it was Rodriguez edging the opening few rounds. Estrada was falling short with his punches. However, he hurt Rodriguez via a right hook in the third to keep him wary.

Then, the fight was stopped in the fourth round following a low blow. Once the fight restarted, Rodriguez landed successive left hooks, and the left hand sent him to the floor. Rodriguez tried to finish the fight, but Estrada made it to the next round. Bam upped the pressure, but he got caught in the sixth with a body shot that sent him to the canvas. Bam recovered to connect with two shots to the midsection, which dropped Estrada, as the fight was stopped in the seventh.

“I saw the way he was rolling on the floor. [And] I knew that was it. I’m more upset than any of the 10,000 fans in here. I managed to leave Arizona uglier than I came twice in a row. It was a tough fight. To be in the ring with ‘Gallo,’ a legend, and to take his belts makes it that much more special. I know he’s a tough fighter. It’s an honor to share the ring with Gallo. [And] I saw the way he was rolling on the floor, I knew that was it.

“I got dropped for the first time — that was crazy. I just got caught with a punch, the  next thing you know I was on the floor but I’ve always wanted to experience that. [And] I know it’s bad but I always pictured myself in a fight like this. To be in the ring with ‘El Gallo,’ a legend, and to take his belts … it makes it that much more better,” Rodriguez said
