Barboza-Gaethje Set for UFC Philadelphia

An agreement is in place for lightweights Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje to headline UFC Philadelphia, taking place on March 30 at the Wells Fargo Center.

Both men are known for their finishing ability — namely knockout power — and bonus-winning performances. Barboza, who has been with the UFC since 2010, has six Fight of the Night bonuses under the UFC banner, while Gaethje has three Fight of the Night bonuses and two Performance of the Night bonuses in just four UFC fights.

Barboza most recently competed at UFC Milwaukee last December, knocking out Dan Hooker with a body shot in the third. He’s won four of the six bouts he’s had since 2016.

Gaethje, meanwhile, debuted in the UFC in July 2017 after going 17-0 with a WSOF lightweight title reign. Gaethje defeated Michael Johnson before losses to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. He last competed in August, finishing James Vick in 87 seconds.
