Belal Muhammad Boasts Confidence Ahead Of UFC 304 Bout With Leon Edwards

Belal Muhammad has always been outspoken about his confidence, even when seemingly unwarranted, but his prediction for the upcoming title shot versus Leon Edwards at UFC 304 is bold even for him.

Edwards and Muhammad will square off in the main event on July 27th from the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England. The pair first met at the UFC Apex back in 2021, but unfortunately the bout was stopped short and ruled a no contest when Muhammad was on the receiving end of an eye poke that he was unable to recover from.

In a recent interview earlier this week, the welterweight title challenger expressed that he is ‘the best version of himself’ and intends on finishing the fight.

“Honestly, I think I go in there and knock him out,” Muhammad said. “When I look at my last stylistic matchups… I fought the best striker in the UFC in ‘Wonderboy’ [Stephen Thompson]. I fought the best grappler in the UFC, Demian Maia. I fought great finishers in Vicente Luque; I fought Gilbert Burns on three weeks’ notice. I think all those fights added up to this one fight like I said, god’s plan.

“I think right now, I’m the best version of myself. And I think that Leon’s gonna get in there, him and his team there in Manchester, they’re gonna be surprised, they’re gonna be in a rude awakening. People will say whatever they wanna say but my last full camp I knocked out Sean Brady, Gilbert Burns fight was a three weeks’ notice fight. So we’re going out on my last full camp, and it was a knockout. This fight, I’m gonna knock out Leon Edwards.”

Having not lost since his 2019 bout with Geoff Neal, “Remember The Name” is riding a 10-fight unbeaten streak. With three total finishes, and only two knockouts, naturally many are feeling apprehensive on if he can truly deliver on his prediction versus one of the best strikers in the UFC.
