Bellator 168 Weigh-In Results
The fighters competing on tomorrow night’s Bellator 168 event in Italy weighed in earlier today.
A middleweight championship bout was set as the main event, with champion Rafael Carvalho scheduled to face off with Melvin Mahoef in a rematch of one of the most controversial decisions in MMA this year. However, Carvalho pulled out of the card last week due to injury.
Now, the main event will be a middleweight bout featuring Alessio Sakara and Joey Beltran. After being released from the UFC at the end of 2013, following four consecutive losses, Sakara debuted for Bellator back in April at Bellator 152, defeating Brian Rogers with a second-round knockout.
Since coming over back to Bellator following his own 2013 UFC release, Beltran has gone 2-4 in the promotion and bounced around the weight divisions. His most recent fight, at Bellator 155 in May, was a split-decision loss to Chase Gormley at heavyweight. While he did win a light heavyweight bout outside of Bellator in December 2015, he is on a two-fight losing streak in the promotion, with his last win coming at Bellator 136 in April 2015, a majority deciion victory over Rogers in Beltran’s middleweight debut bout.
The event takes place at the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy, as part of an MMA/kickboxing double event from Bellator.
