Bellator 231 Live Results
Two veteran MMA fighters will face off once again to prove just how dominant they are, while a pro wrestler will look to remain undefeated in his third professional fight. Bellator 231 takes place tonight, October 25 inside the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.
The main event features Frank Mir v. Roy Nelson. The two faced off against one another at UFC 130 in 2011, when Mir beat Nelson via unanimous decision.
A former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Mir (18-13) was 2-6 in his last eight UFC fights before being granted his release. He signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator in 2017, starting his run in the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix. Mir lost to Fedor Emelianenko in the opening round back at Bellator 198. He lost his second fight with the promotion back at Bellator 212 against Javy Ayala via TKO.
On the other side is Nelson (23-17), who hasn’t won a bout since 2017. He lost the opening round of the Heavyweight Grand Prix against Matt Mitrione at Bellator 194 before losing to Sergei Kharitonov at Bellator 207. “Big Country” last fought at Bellator 216, losing to Mirko Cro Cop via unanimous decision. Not liking the result of the last fight, Nelson returns to Connecticut to change his luck.
Mir is on a four-fight losing streak, while Nelson has lost three in a row. Besides looking to break their recent skids, Nelson is hoping to even the score. Both fighters are big names, and even with their recent records, they can give Bellator a lot of exposure.
Also on the card is the debut of Bec Rawlings. After going 3-0 in Bare-Knuckle FC, Rawling’s (7-8) signed with Bellator. She faces Ilara Joanne. Opening up the card will be AEW star Jake Hager. The All-American is looking for his third win in 2019 after debuting for Bellator earlier this year. Scheduled to be at Bellator 231 are some of Hager’s fellow wrestlers from AEW.
