Bellator 233 Live Results
Following a successful end to the Welterweight Grand Prix, Bellator returns for Bellator 233. Taking place inside the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, rising stars will get a chance to shine while a veteran bids his farewell to MMA.
In the main event of the evening, John Salter will face Costello van Steenis in a middleweight bout. The co-main event will feature “King Mo” Kawal v. Andrew Kapel.
Salter (16-4) last fought at Bellator 210, beating Chidi Njokuani via round-one submission. It was a redeemable win following a round-three submission loss to Rafael Lovato Jr. at Bellator 205. Prior to that, he was on a seven-fight win streak.
Facing a veteran in Salter is a step-up in competition for van Steenis (12-1), who is on a six-fight win streak. He last fought at Bellator 223 in June, beating Mike Shipman via round-two TKO. The 27-year-old is looking to impress Bellator brass with a huge win.
In the co-main event, “King Mo” Lawal (21-9, 1NC) will look to end his career with a victory. The former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, “King Mo” is on a three-fight losing streak and is 2-5 in his last seven. His last win was via unanimous decision in 2017 against Quinton Jackson. He faces the 34-year-old Kapel (14-6), who is on a four-fight win streak.
