Bellator 262 Official Results – Velasquez Defeats Kielholtz

Bellator 262 took place last night in Uncasville, Connecticut. Headlining of the event was the women’s flyweight clash, Juliana Velasquez (Climbed to 12-0 yesterday) vs Denise Kielholtz (Fell to 6-3 yesterday). Undefeated Brazilian fighter was defending her title against current Bellator Kickboxing’s Flyweight World champion. Denise had an opportunity of winning the title and becoming the first-ever fighter to hold Bellator’s Kickboxing and MMA titles at the same time. However, Velasquez successfully defended her title for the first time.

At the beginning of the fight, they hardly found their fight ranges, but in the last seconds, Kielholtz managed to steal the whole round via wonderful combinations.

After that, Velasquez focused on her jab and started to find his range in this fight.
Velasquez was trying to fight from outside, while Keilholtz was aiming to pressure the champion and control the center, but the champion was doing a great job with jabs and counter-attacks.

At the end of round N3, we finally saw a takedown by the champion. There was not much time, for significant ground and pound, or submission attempts but she still steals round with it. In the final round, “Miss Dynamite” had her moments. She landed a beautiful right hand to the champion, who almost gets knock downed. Nevertheless, after exchanging some punches and takedown, they could not finish the fight early. After such a close fight, Juliana earned the victory and defended his title, for the first time, via split decision.

The Co-main event bout between Tyrell Fortune (11-1-0) and Matt Mitrione (13-9-0 1NC) went without any surprises. Tyrel revealed great power of his punches while ground and pound, and 43 years old UFC veteran had no choice but to Tap.

Said Sowma landed a huge left cross and KO Ronny Markes at 1:09 of the first round.  Cody Law landed some huge cross-uppercut combinations, landed some huge knees, and the referee stopped the fight in the first round, even though Theodore Macuka was still on his feet. Cody won his 4th professional fight and remains an undefeated fighter. His Amateur record is 5-0.
