Bellator 273: Ryan Bader Defies Odds, Retains Title Against Valentin Moldavsky

Ryan Bader did what not many thought he could.

Bellator heavyweight champion Bader met interim champion Valentin Moldavsky in the main event of Bellator 273.

There were many questions if the time for Bader was over and time for retirement, but defeating Moldavsky was a clear statement.

In the first round, Bader landed massive shots and knocked down Moldavsky. Most of the commentators predicted that the fight was over. Still, Moldavsky managed to recover and land the takedown.

However, Bader managed to get up and landed a takedown for himself, winning in the first round.

In the second and third rounds, Moldavsky used a pragmatic strategy and earned it via controlling his rival near the cage. He did not serve any damage to Bader.

After three rounds, the score was 2-1 for Moldavsky, and Bader was very tired.

In the fourth round, Bader earned two impressive takedowns and showed some great ground and pound, which was enough to score 2-2.

In the final round, both fighters exchanged takedown attempts, and both fighters were defending themselves. Bader started using his advantage and mixed up takedowns and striking, and Moldavsky tried to be as careful as possible.

In the second half of the fifth round, Moldavsky won the exchange of takedowns and took the back of Bader. Still, the champion was not going to stop.

They managed to turn around and landed several massive elbows and punches near the ear of Moldavsky. The Russian then earned a spectacular takedown just 15 seconds before the end of the fight.

But Bader earned the victory via unanimous decision, and some fans might think it was robbery because Moldavsky did a better job in three rounds. However, Bader served more damage.
