Bellator 281: Logan Storley Wrestles Michael Page To Split Decision Win

Logan Storley upset Michael “Venom” Page.

The main event of Bellator 281 featured Page, a local fighter and star of the promotion, and No. 4 ranked contender Storley, who were fighting for the interim title. Storley put on a wrestling show to outpoint Page.

Page was supposed to fight with welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov, but Amosov opted to defend his home country of Ukraine against Russia’s ongoing attacks. Because of that, Storley replaced the champion, and Bellator held an interim title fight.

Obviously, Sanford MMA’s product, Storley, had a specific plan against Page.

He was waiting for MVP to start attacking, and that was the moment when Storley was going for the takedowns. The American took takedowns in every round and controlled MVP on the ground, but could not serve any damage.

On the other hand, MVP landed some great punches and kicks while standing.

Storley earned a split decision victory and earned the interim title.

With this victory, he guaranteed himself as the next title challenger for Amosov.

MVP suffered his second defeat.

In the co-main event, Fabian Edwards defeated legendary Lyoto Machida in the very first round. They were exchanging low kicks, but Edwards landed an elbow in the clinch and finished the fight on the ground.

Paul Daley retired from MMA as a professional fighter with an impressive knockout victory. In the second round, he exchanged some bombs with Brazilian Wendell Giacomo and landed a crucial right hook right on the chin.
