Logan Storley stopped Brennan Ward in the second round at Bellator 298 to get a step closer at securing a title shot.
Storley had a lot to prove, fighting in his hometown, following the loss of his unification bout with Yaroslav Amosov. But rather than succumb to the pressure, Storley stepped up to the plate.
Ward, on paper though, was going to be tough given his striking abilities. Ward did start well, as his left jab kept Storley at bay in the opening round.
However, Storley kept his compsure as he countered and scrambled towards Ward by keeping him on the cage for the rest of the first.
Ward tried to use his jab once again in the second, but Storley navigated around it to complete another takedown. The former tried to make it a physical encounter, which only backfired.
Storley increased his work load, increasing the number of punches that he was throwing. And after a series of right hands, the referee stopped the fight.
