Bellator Cuts A Slew Of Fighters From Its Roster
Bellator has released a significant number of fighters.
In general, Bellator isn’t known for dropping the hammer on its fighters as far as pink slips are concerned. While cuts aren’t new to Bellator, they occur far less frequently than they do in the UFC. It may be time to start referring to October 27, 2020 as “Dark Tuesday” for the Bellator roster.
Among the list of names in Bellator’s release spree are Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, Joe Warren, and Rafael Carvalho. Other notable names such as Ricky Bandejas, David Rickels, and AJ Agazarm have also been released. Bandejas recently fought earlier this month, suffering a submission loss to Leandro Higo.
In addition to the cuts, three fighters have informed Bellator of their retirement. Those fighters are Rafael Lovato Jr., Jon Fitch, and Pat Curran.
Here is a full list of the Bellator releases (via Jason Floyd).
