Bellator MMA & Kickboxing Set For Rome In July
Bellator has announced that both their MMA and kickboxing brands will make their debut in Italy’s capital city of Rome on July 14th, from the Il Centrale Live Roma- Forco Italico.
A double main event will headline the MMA card as Patricio Pitbull and Daniel Weichel battle for the featherweight crown, and Italian MMA star Alessio Sakara, will take on Jamie Sloane in a light heavyweight battle.
This will be Pitbull’s first defense since reclaiming the featherweight title in April, while Weichel looks for revenge against the only man who has beaten him inside the Bellator cage at Bellator 138.
Bellator’s Kickboxing brand will also have a major main event, as they will crown the inaugural Bellator Kickboxing lightweight champion, when Giorgio Petrosyan will face off with Chingiz Allazov. The Bellator Kickboxing’ featherweight title will also be on the line as Kevin Ross defends against Gabriel Varga.
“From the beginning of Bellator’s international expansion, Italy has always played an integral role in our growth,” Bellator President Scott Coker said. “Following successful events in the gorgeous cities of both Florence and Torino, it only made sense to bring a card to Rome, the home of the Colosseum, a city that has seen warriors do battle since 80 AD.”
Petrosyan is looking to continue his unbeaten streak of 46 fights, against Allazov who is 27 wins into his own winning streak. The former K-1 super middleweight champion looks to showcase his Thai boxing against the former two time “kickboxer of the year.”
