Bellew Calls AJ Best Heavyweight, Blasts Wilder
Even though he walked away from the sport of boxing, former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew’s passion for boxing has not gone anywhere.
When asked for his opinion on the heavyweight scene, where he fought at for the last few years of his career, Bellew lauded fellow Briton, Anthony Joshua, at the top of the fight game.
“AJ is the best heavyweight in the world. Physically, athletically, everything. He is fast and explosive. He is the perfect role model. To look at where he has come from to where he is now is incredible,” Bellew said to Give Me Sport.
When asked of the other world heavyweight champion, Bellew pulled no punches on his thoughts on Wilder’s punching.
“The worst, least technically gifted heavyweight champion ever,” started Bellew. “Deontay Wilder is the worst heavyweight champion of all time. Technically, I don’t think there has ever been a worse champion.
“This man can’t throw a proper combination. This man hits the lights when he throws a right hand. He is ultimately a one trick pony. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic trick, but it is just one. He has been exposed at the top level.”
