Ben Shalom Believes Amir Khan May Throw In The Towel Like Kell Brook
Despite his struggles, Amir Khan (34-6, 21 KOs) has been very optimistic down the years as he looks to weigh up his options in the ring.
However, Ben Shalom, Boxxer promoter, believes that the 35-year-old could join Kell Brook in the retirement category.
The British professional boxer was stopped by Brook in the sixth round of their battle in February. This marked the final fight of the Sheffield native’s career before he called time on his career on the weekend.
There were signs that Khan may also throw in the towel after his defeat to Brook. However, he quickly denied the reports with suggestions that he might consider another big-stage opportunity.
“The worst time to make a decision about your career is straight after the fight, especially when you have lost. You are unable to think clearly about what you want to do going forward. Amir has seen all his options,” Shalom said.
“Amir wants to be the face of the big stages again. However, there are chances that he may follow Brook into retirement. He has had a wonderful career and achieved more than he could have imagined. However, we believe that it is the right time for both of the fighters to retire,” Shalom concluded.
