Benavidez & Gavril Injured In Rematch

The youngest champion in boxing, David Benavidez proved his worth on Saturday in his unanimous decision victory over Ronald Gavril. Benavidez and Gavril spent most of Thursday’s press conference hyping up their rematch for the WBC super middleweight title, and both walked in to the Mandalay Bay ready for a war and walked out feeling like they were in one.

According to Boxing Scene, Benavidez appeared to hurt his right hand in the second half of the fight, and Benavidez told the press that Gavril went straight to the hospital, had a broken jaw and a broken nose.

“Got some news that my opponent Ronald Gavril has a broken jaw and nose I wonder why,” Benavidez stated.
Gavril would state after the fight that he thought his opponent was the “…better man tonight. What can I say? I want to go back in the gym and come back stronger.”
