David Benavidez has given his take on Jake Paul’s upcoming fight with Nate Diaz.
The pair are set to face off on August 5th, 2023, in a mega-crossover event that has only gotten bigger of late. Diaz’s recent arrest warrant for allegedly assaulting a Logan Paul look-alike only increased the hype for the fight.
After all, there is a lot on the line. Paul is looking to bounce back from the first defeat of his career when he came second best to Tommy Fury in a split-decision.
The loss coincided with Paul’s first-ever fight against a professional boxer. It should be no surprise, then, that his rebuilding process has come with a fight against a UFC star.
Paul has already beaten non-boxers, such as Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren and Anderson Silva. With that being said, Diaz will make his professional debut in boxing, having left the UFC last year.
Diaz’s last fight was a victory against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. While the inactivity could play a factor, Benavidez sees a close match-up.
“I’m friends with both of those guys, I like Jake Paul. It’ll be a good fight for the fans.
“I think if Jake Paul keeps training, he’s training hard and looks hungry, I think he can [beat Diaz]. But Nate Diaz is a f****ng legend, so he’s gonna have to prove himself,” Benavidez
