Benavidez Is The Best Fighter At 168 According To Shawn Porter

David Benavidez is the best fighter in the super middleweight division.

That is according to Shawn Porter. The Mexican Monster kept his unbeaten record by stopping Demetrius Andrade after the sixth round to give the latter the first defeat of his career. The win kept Benavidez as the WBC interim champion as a fight with Canelo Alvarez was being talked about once again. The WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman confirmed that there was no rush for the organization to call the mandatory. Meanwhile, reports emerged that Canelo could face Jaime Munguia instead. Benavidez singled out Jermall Charlo as an option if the Canelo fight isn’t made. And with a fight still yet to be agreed, Porter felt that Benavidez was the best in the division regardless.

“[David] Benavidez is in a class of his own. Me personally, I saw it, but I never accepted it, maybe. This fight right here, he just showed that he’s superior to anyone at 168. Nobody Can Challenge David Benavidez At 168. Nobody can challenge him [Benavidez] at 168 and don’t even ask me. No, nobody can challenge him at 168. Y’all know what that means. He’s a complete package,” Porter said

Nevertheless, until that fight gets made, Canelo will be seen as the top dog. The Mexican is the current undisputed champion, with titles in four weight classes. And after having never been dropped in his career despite facing big punchers such as Sergey Kovalev and GGG, the best fighter in the 168 division is arguably Alvarez until proven otherwise.
