Benavidez Vs. Andrade Is ‘Close’ For November

Stephen Espinoza has revealed that a bout between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade is close to being announced for November.

The fight would be for the WBC super middleweight interim belt, with the winner becoming the mandatory for either Canelo Alvarez or Jermell Charlo’s undisputed titles as they square off on September 30th, 2023. Both fighters are undefeated and in impressive form. Benavidez’s last fight was a unanimous-decision win over Caleb Plant.

Meanwhile, Andrade overcame Demond Nicholson via a unanimous decision. The fight poses a contrast of styles, as Benavidez’s power and heavy-handedness is up against the slicker and craftier Andrade, whose success comes at 154 and 160. With that being said, an announcement could happen soon.

“We’re getting close to making that fight for November. We’re not done yet. Anything can happen. I don’t like to create expectations before things are in place, but it is going in the right direction.

“Boo Boo understands that if he beats Benavidez, he’s got everybody’s attention. That’s the challenge of being great. With Boo Boo making that move, he’s trying to say, ‘This is my move right here. For us to be getting this fight, Andrade is saying, ‘I’m taking the chance.’ I already know who he is, so he’s putting everything on the line. You see what I’m saying about boxing. We’re getting it,” Espinoza
