Benavidez’s Next Fight Reportedly Close To being Finalized

WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion David Benavidez (32-0, 26 KOs) and WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian (28-3, 12 KOs) are in advanced negotiations for a three-belt unification fight targeted for November 21, with a WBC mandatory order pushing the matchup toward the finish line.

Benavidez moved up to cruiserweight in May and stopped Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez to claim the WBA and WBO titles, adding them to the WBC light heavyweight belt already in his possession to become a three-division world champion.

Mikaelian reclaimed his WBC cruiserweight title last December with a rematch victory over Badou Jack. The WBC had already made clear that Mikaelian would need to face Benavidez next or vacate the belt. The winner would hold three of the four major cruiserweight titles, effectively positioning themselves for an undisputed fight.
