Edgar Berlanga took aim at Caleb Plant, mocking him for his choice of opponent for his next fight.
Plant, the WBA Interim Super Middleweight Champion, is set to defend his belt against Jose Armando Resendiz on May 31. This comes after Plant’s win over Trevor McCumby, a fight that helped him rebound from his loss to David Benavidez. Despite his recent victory, Plant has only fought three times in the past three years.
Resendiz, whose biggest win came against Jarrett Hurd in 2023, has been inconsistent, with a subsequent loss to Elijah Garcia before securing a stoppage win over Fernando Paliza. Berlanga feels this fight does little to elevate Plant’s status, while the latter has accused Berlanga of ducking him.
“All the s*** SweetHands Plant was talking. Now, he’s fighting a prospect that’s not ranked and has two losses. You are a f***** disgrace to boxing. Man, it’s f***** sad,” Berlanga said
