Bernard Hopkins Talks Up Ryan Garcia vs. Errol Spence

Bernard Hopkins wants to make Ryan Garcia vs. Errol Spence Jr after King Ry beat Devin Haney

Garcia dropped Haney three times to win a majority decision. Garcia missed weight by 3.2 pounds, preventing him from becoming the WBC Junior Welterweight Champion. However, Garcia has become the ‘face of boxing’ as his name continues to grow. He has released a new song entitled ‘Blessed,’ and has also been pictured with former US President Donald Trump. Garcia’s crossover appeal has seen him acquire almost a million followers on X while close to 12 million on Instagram. The growing appeal makes Garcia the A-side.

There is a narrative for Garcia to box Spence. They trained with Derrick James before Spence left following his loss to Terence Crawford. Since then, James has sued Spence, saying he owes him money. James alleged Spence received a $25 million guarantee for the Crawford fight. Under their supposed agreement, James was entitled to 10 percent of that, which included the PPV. Garcia responded to the lawsuit, saying he would ‘beat up’ Spence. Since Garcia cannot make 140, a fight could happen at 147 or a catchweight.

“That is promotable. That is something people want to see and not just the storyline. Errol Spence, to me, is a threat to anybody and is definitely a good soap opera leading up to the action of fighting. It gives something to the fight that makes it personal. Personally, I say fight the best in the division for the most money and understand that you are Kingry and they make money by fighting you. If Spence is the one, which I believe if anybody if it ain’t Tank if it ain’t Spence and whoever else after that, those two I see at the top of the good chain. I absolutely agree with that. Anything else it to do to stay busy,” Hopkins said
