Artur Beterbiev could be back in action between November and the ‘New Year’ after his fight with Callum Smith on August 19th, 2023, was postponed.
Beterbiev suffered a bone infection in his jaw, which required surgery after some root canal treatment caused it.
As a result, Smith’s chance of causing an upset over the WBC, WBO and IBF light-heavyweight champion will have to wait for now.
It is alleged that Beterbiev began to feel pain in his jaw after returning to Canada from Russia.

As such, the Russian’s training was hampered, which required Beterbiev to see a specialist.
But now that the operation has happened, Beterbiev was in better spirits as a return could happen in November, or a potential fight in the New Year.
“I had an operation because of the infection in my jaw. And the doctors insisted on postponing the fight so that the jaw had time to heal.
“Thanks to everyone who has already bought tickets – the fight will definitely be on another day. God’s plans are much better than our dreams,” Beterbiev
