Beterbiev vs. Bivol Could Be Rescheduled For Late 2024

The Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol is being planner for October or December.

The fight was set for June 1, only for Beterbiev to pull out with knee injury. Beterbiev got the injury in training. The Russian holds the IBF, WBC and WBO belts. He defeated Callum Smith in January, as the goal shifted to undisputed. Bivol defeated Lyndon Arthur last December via a unanimous decision. He will still box on the June 1 card against Malik Zinad

Top Rank were hopeful of making the Beterbiev-Bivol fight before the year was out. That is still the aim for the Saudis. However, that all depends on how fast Beterbiev recovers. He is 39-years-old, heading into the biggest fights of his career. He faces a younger Bivol, who is 33.

While Beterbiev has a 100 percent KO rate with all 20 wins by stoppage, he is facing an undefeated Bivol who knows what it takes on the biggest stage. Bivol secured the biggest win of his career, ouboxing Canelo Alavrez in a one-sided fight. Beterbiev must be prepared, which can only happen if he is fully fit.
