Beterbiev vs. Bivol Set For October 12

Artur Beterbiev will now face Dmitry Bivol for the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on October 12.

The fight was meant for June 1. However, Beterbiev pulled out with a knee injury. Beterbiev, the IBF, WBC and WBO champion, defeated Callum Smith in January. Meanwhile, Bivol has come off a sixth-round stoppage win over Malik Zinad. Zinad stepped in for Beterbiev, but the Libyan had no answer to Bivol’s sustained attack.

Now, the fight will take place on October 12. Beterbiev is a 39-year-old and at the tail end of his career. Bivol is much younger at 33. While Beterbiev has a 100 percent KO rate with 20 wins, the knee injury makes Bivol a slight favorite. Following his win over Zinad, Bivol was ready for Beterbiev.

“I had enough time in my training camp to change sparring partners tactics. I feel great, and I will be ready for October 12th, and we will see. I don’t know what he thinks. Maybe he’s busy now and watching or not. It doesn’t matter,” Bivol said
