Bill Haney Drops Hint Over Haney Vs. Garcia Rematch

Bill Haney, father and trainer of WBO Welterweight Champion Devin Haney, took to social media to drop the strongest hint yet that a rematch with WBC Welterweight Champion Ryan Garcia is landing in Las Vegas.

Since their controversial April 2024 meeting—which saw Garcia drop Haney three times before the result was overturned to a No Contest due to a positive Ostarine test—both fighters have won world titles. Haney beat Brian Norman Jr. for the WBO Welterweight Title, while Ryan defeated Barrios for the WBC belt.

Haney’s post above could hint at a targeted date of September 5, 2026, with the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium serving as the frontrunner to host the welterweight unification. This comes after negotiations appeared to have hit a snag over financial splits. Ryan Garcia recently declared himself the “A-side” following his impressive win over Mario Barrios, while Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) maintains his status as the undefeated three-weight champion. Rumors suggest that the Saudis may be backing event, removing the need for a clear A-side.
