Bill Haney Rules Out Devin Haney vs. Shakur Stevenson If Ryan Garcia Withdraws

Bill Haney has ruled out his son, Devin Haney, facing Shakur Stevenson in case Ryan Garcia pulls out.

Haney defends his WBC Junior Welterweight Title on April 20. But there are doubts about whether the fight will go ahead. Concerns have been raised over Garcia’s mental health based on his erratic social media activity. He admitted to smoking weed and drinking alcohol after initially telling a fan he was ‘high as f**k.’

Garcia also revealed the New York State Athletic Commission requested a mental health evaluation on him. Ryan responded by threatening to sue them if the fight never went ahead. While Garcia has reassured fans that the fight will happen, Shakur was willing to step in. Team Haney and Stevenson shared some verbal words, with Shakur looking an unlikely candidate.

“I can’t negotiate with [Stevenson]. If he agreed to anything, he’d still have to go back to Bob and J. Prince and ask them. Him getting into my DMs? [Stevenson] had a terrible performance last time. What makes you think we want to fight you? You bring nothing to the table,” Bill Haney revealed
