Billy Joe Saunders On Chris Eubank Jr.: ‘He Will Never Be A Champion’

Billy Joe Saunders has a strong take on Chris Eubank Jr.’s ceiling.

Saunders is the WBO Super-Middleweight Champion. Eubank is the interim WBA Middleweight titleholder. Eubank has been calling for big names, including a rematch with Saunders. The two collided back on November 29, 2014. Saunders won the bout via split decision.

Saunders told The Sun that he has no interest in fighting Eubank a second time and doesn’t think he has what it takes to become a real champion.

“He will never be a champion because he hasn’t got the minerals. You have to be a special type of creature and a bit of a lunatic to want to get in the ring and start giving it and taking – and enjoying it. When you get someone like him, who has had the nice upbringing, he has been taught to hold his hands up but he doesn’t have that venom in him. He is not good at all. I am going to completely dismiss him and move on. I don’t rate Eubank Jr at world level, I just want to completely dismiss him.”

Eubank is riding a three-fight winning streak. In that span, he’s beaten Matt Korobov, James DeGale, and JJ McDonagh.

Saunders has a perfect record of 30-0. He’s fresh off a successful title defense over Martin Murray back on December 4, 2020.
