On Monday, Paulie Malignaggi was adorned in a blue fedora, matching his suit for a press conference promoting the June 22nd Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event.
Malignaggi and his opponent Artem Lobov would nearly brawl inside the midtown Manhattan Dave and Buster’s.
The former world champion boxer would draw the ire of former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Not for disrespecting his fellow MMA fighter Lobov, but for his hat.
“Don’t get me started on spitting on him. Any motherf****r that shows up wearing a hat like that deserves to die. It’s as simple as that,” Bisping explained on his Believe You Me podcast. “I’m sorry. You look like an absolute t**. He looks like a villain out of the Dick Tracy movie. You know what I mean? He might as well have had a pinstripe suit on, that big stupid gangsta hat.”
“Maybe I’m not Italian from Brooklyn, or whatever the f*ck you say Paulie. Maybe that’s their thing, but I’m telling you, you look like a t**t. And any man that runs around, I don’t care if you’re at the beach, I don’t care if you’re, whatever pastime you are taking part in. If you go out wearing a fedora, you are a c**k. Plain and simple.”
Bisping would give Malignaggi and Lobov credit for the attention the fight is getting, but feels Malignaggi may not be ready to give it all in training camp, due to Malignaggi not fighting since March 2017.
