BJ Penn Officially Released From UFC

After multiple losses, numerous bar fights, and an on-going legal issue with his ex-partner, the UFC has released former champion and Hall of Famer BJ Penn.

The move announced on Thursday night via Kevin Iole, ends Penn’s nearly two-decade run with the organization that has seen him go from one of the best fighters to one of the organization’s most problematic, since returning from a brief retirement.

UFC President Dana White made it clear following Penn’s most recent bar fight with an acquaintance that the former middleweight champion was no longer welcomed inside the Octagon, killing a potential fight with former training partner Nik Lentz.
