BKFC Fighter Sydney Smith Calls Herself Frankenstein Following First Round KO Loss

Sydney Smith, a bare-knuckle boxer, suffered extensive injuries to her face following her loss to Crystal Pittman.

Smith fought at BKFC KnuckleMania 4 in Los Angeles on April 27, moving up two weight classes to face Pittman as a last-minute replacement. The difference in power was evident. Pittman landed a big overhand right in the opening round before finishing Smith with numerous flurries on the ropes. Smith was bleeding from her mouth, with cuts and bruising near her eye. While the following footage shows lots of damage, Smith saw the funny side, labelling herself as Frankenstein.

The defeat was expected based on her weight class and current form. Smith is a strawweight, having won her first bout in bare-knuckle boxing. However, she entered the fight with a loss, losing against Melanie Shah. Pittman’s form was better, as she beat Toni Tallman in her last bout. Smith will likely take some time off to recuperate from what has been a tough defeat.
