BKFC President In Discussions With The UFC To Make Mike Perry Vs. Robbie Lawler

Rumors have been swirling regarding a potential bare knuckle fight between UFC contracted Robbie Lawler and Mike Perry, and now BKFC President David Feldman has confirmed they are in talks for the bout to possibly occur in 2025.

Of course Lawler, the former UFC welterweight titleholder, is interested in the bout, but it will take some serious negotiations considering the hoops he may have to jump through to forgo his contract obligations.

Lawler had his first stint in the UFC between 2002 and 2004. From there, he moved on to fight with promotions such as Strikeforce and EliteXC where he achieved championship gold. Following the UFC’s purchase of Strikeforce, Lawler was welcomed back home to the leading promotion with open arms. He competed under the promotion’s banner for 10 more years, earning the welterweight strap along the way. Lawler would ultimately retire in 2023 at 41-years old, following a first round knockout win over Niko Price at UFC 290.

On the other side of things, Perry has been champing at the bit for his next fight. The BKFC star, and former UFC competitor, is widely considered the most popular fighter the promotion has to offer, but has been recently sidelined in questionable fashion. Now, it seems Perry might get his match with Lawler, according to the BKFC. But, it is important to remember that the UFC has not yet chimed in, and they do not exactly have a vast track record of cross promoting events.

“We’re working on it, we’re working on it.” BKFC founder David Feldman stated when asked about Mike Perry vs. Robbie Lawler. “Yeah, [Robbie wants to do it]. We’re working out a deal with the UFC. That’s a sick fight right? I’ll know [if it’s going to happen] in two weeks, and if it doesn’t happen then, it will be someone else [against Perry] then possibly him.”

He continued, “A lot of people are calling out Mike Perry now. This is actually the good thing about the Jake Paul fight, everyone wants to fight him. They were scared to death of him… We’re talking to [Darren Till], too.”
