Blogger Charged For Threats On Concerts Khabib Criticized
Following criticism by UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov made towards hip-hop concerts taking place in his native Dagestan, a blogger has been arrested for inciting violence and extremism.
Per a report via Bloody Elbow, Ahmed Israpilov, the manager of the ‘Imamat Dagestan’ page on Instagram, was charged and confessed this week for inciting extremist activity (Article 280 in the Russian Federation Criminal Code).
“Israpilov coordinated the actions of the Instagram groups by threatening both the organizers and the citizens who attended the events,” the regional FSB Directorate explained. “People wearing t-shirts with the logo of his page met teenagers leaving the theatre (AniDag) and showered them with threats.”
Israpilov was warned of this behavior prior to his arrest, but would end up being arrested after persisting with “extremist language and calls to action” on an account featuring 17,600 followers.
Nurmagomedov is not mentioned once in the investigation, but was critical about rap concerts that featured racy performances and lamented “modern Dagestan.” In 2018 a performance by Egor Kreed would be cancelled due to threats of rape towards the artist, which Nurmagomedov would refer to as “no great loss.”
The following month, rapper Egor Kreed was forced to cancel his performance in Dagestan after being threatened with rape. Nurmagomedov later referred to this as “no great loss.”
The same would be for this situation, as Nurmagomedov would criticize a play Hunting For Men, which features a woman in lingerie seducing a man, which Nurmagomedov called “filth.” Per the report, Israpilov was responsible for a campaign of harassment and threats against the play, the Egor Kreed concert and a cancelled anime festival.
