Middleweight Bo Nickal has accused Colby Covington of turning down a bout for the UFC White House event on June 14.
Following their rivalry that started at a Real American Freestyle (RAF) press conference in January, Nickal called for the matchup at 185 lbs. However, Nickal suggested that Covington has opted to steer clear. Nickal recently bounced back from his first professional loss with a head-kick KO of Rodolfo Vieira at UFC 322 last November.
Covington, a career welterweight, had recently teased a move to middleweight after defeating Luke Rockhold in a freestyle wrestling match at RAF 05 in January. Nickal viewed this as the perfect opening for a UFC clash, but Covington has since pivoted his focus back to 170-lb fighters. Nickal didn’t hold back when discussing Covington’s decision.
