Bob Arum Gives His Two Cents On Naoya Inoue-Nonito Donaire Rematch

The CEO of Top Rank and promoter, Bob Arum believes that Naoya Inoue will soon have a rematch with Nonito Donaire after a bureaucratic measure is done.

Arum, who also co-promotes Japan’s IBF and WBA 118-pound champion Inoue, said that negotiations are going on between the boxers.

He thinks the only hurdle between the fight is the recent border restrictions due to the Omicron variant. The WBC titleholder, Donaire, can’t enter the country until the regulations are eased in Japan for the outsiders.

All parties are just waiting for the green signal from the Japanese government.

“I think that’s close,” Arum said in an interview.

“Everything depends not on Donaire, not on Inoue, not Ohashi or Honda, but on the Japanese government lifting the restrictions on events and so forth.”

Reports from Japan are positive as they indicate the relaxation of the Covid restrictions in March.

In their first showdown, Donaire lived up to the hype despite losing the contest. Since then, both the fighters have done well in their succeeding encounters. This is the reason why people are waiting for the clash to take place soon.
