Bob Arum Lays Out His Offer To Jack Catterall

Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum has revealed what he would offer Jack Catterall.

It’s no secret that a highly-anticipated title unification fight between Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor is what Arum is looking to put together. The problem lies within the WBO mandatory status. Catterall has that distinction and Ramirez has been given a 120-day window to defend against Catterall. Ramirez holds the WBC and WBO Light-Welterweight Titles, while Taylor is the WBA (Super) and IBF Champion.

Arum fully intends to book Ramirez vs. Taylor and has even proposed that Catterall goes one-on-one with Jose Zepeda on the same card (via

“We’ll offer Catterall a fight with Zepeda, which he’ll turn down. And then Catterall will fight the (Ramirez-Taylor) winner and then Zepeda will fight (for a world title). I would offer Catterall a lot of money to fight Zepeda but there’s no way he’s going to do that. I’d love to see that fight. I’d love to do it on the Ramirez-Taylor card.”

Zepeda is coming off a spectacular fifth-round knockout victory over Ivan Baranchyk. The bout had a total of eight knockdowns. Many are hailing it as the lead candidate for “Fight of the Year.” Catterall is likely to stick to his guns with the WBO ruling.
