Bob Arum Likes Idea Of Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson At The End Of 2021

If things go smoothly for Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson in 2021, we could see a showdown between the two.

Lopez is the current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and WBC (Franchise) Lightweight Champion. Stevenson is in search of a major title in the junior-lightweight division. He’s already a former featherweight titleholder. With Stevenson’s stock skyrocketing, many believe he will become a lightweight in short order as that is where the big money fights are.

Speaking to Michael Woods for Bad Left Hook, Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum said that Lopez vs. Stevenson could be a possibility depending on the lay of the land at the end of 2021.

“No, he’s got no chance. But I don’t think anybody has a chance against him. I don’t think he gets tested until he goes to 135 pounds, where Teofimo Lopez is.”

“End of next year, let’s see where we are, let’s see what happens. We wanna make good fights for Teofimo, we feel he’s better than Ryan Garcia, than Tank Davis, those guys.”

Stevenson will be in action on Saturday night, December 12. He’ll share the ring with Toka Khan Clary in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing card. It’ll take place inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As for Lopez, he’s coming off the biggest win of his pro boxing career. He was already the IBF Lightweight Champion but he added the WBA, WBO, and WBC gold with a unanimous decision victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko. Arum has said that George Kambosos could be next for Lopez.
