Bob Arum: Vasiliy Lomachenko Has Big Options After Richard Commey
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum feels that his fighter Vasiliy Lomachenko has a lot of opponents to comb through after he beat Richard Commey by unanimous decision on Saturday night.
Lomachenko dominated Commey throughout the bout to earn scorecards of 117-110, 119-108 and 119-108 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Arum now believes that George Kambosos Jr, who he doesn’t rate highly, will be next in line for Lomachenko.
“But it is what it is and now he’ll have the opportunity to fight Kambosos who I don’t think is a top-caliber guy,” he said.
“It depends on what Kambosos wants to do, or what the organizations — I mean, we’ve been led to believe the WBO is going to order a mandatory for Lomachenko and we’re certainly happy.”
Arum feels like Devin Haney vs Lomachenko could be set up in near future as well so that his boxer can get his hands on the WBC strap.
The legendary promoter insists that the Ukrainian star should not be overlooked because of his recent loss to Teofimo Lopez. He claimed that a shoulder irritation caused Lomachenko’s loss or else he would have continued his sublime run against the 24-year-old.
