Bob Arum Would Work With Crawford Again

Bob Arum is open to promoting Terence Crawford again.

Crawford left Top Rank in 2021 following his win over Shawn Porter. The decision aimed to secure the biggest fight in the welterweight division, namely the Errol Spence Jr. bout. Bud crossed the street to sign a deal with PBC for the Spence fight. He stopped Spence to become the first Undisputed Welterweight Champion of the four-belt era.

He is now a free agent, working closely with the Saudis who helped set up Crawford’s fight with Israil Madrimov for August 3. Reports also indicate the Saudis want Crawford to fight Canelo Alvarez. Since Top Rank have a good relationship with the Saudis, Arum did not rule out a future collaboration.

“I never take anything personally. It’s a business. If we had the right fighter at the right money, and it satisfied Crawford, would we do a Crawford fight? Of course we would. There is no animosity there. In that case, things were said that shouldn’t have been said on both parts. Terence is a great fighter. If we had something that was appealing to him, I believe he would come back to do a fight with us, and we would certainly do a fight with him,” Arum said

That is unlikely based on how Crawford left Top Rank. He sued Arum, claiming ‘revolting racial bias,’ wanting approximately $10 million. The lawsuit alleged Top Rank prevented him from getting the biggest fights. While Arum may look past that, Crawford will benefit from being a free agent, allowing him to secure the biggest fights via the Saudis.
