Borg-Simon, Hernandez-Dober Reportedly Set For May 13 UFC Card

A lightweight and bantamweight fight will look to take place this May for the UFC. Ray Borg will take another crack at bantamweight when he faces Ricky Simon, while Alexander Hernandez comes back from a potential coronavirus scare to face Drew Dober.

MMA Junkie was the first to report both fights that will take place on May 13.

Borg (13-4) is on a two-fight win streak and won his last bout against Rogerio Bontorin back in February in his brief return to the flyweight division. Borg missed weight for the fight and teased retiring He has since retracted his statement, saying he needs to continue fighting. In his last fight at bantamweight, Borg lost to Casey Kenney via unanimous decision. The 26-year-old was booked for the original UFC 249 against Marlon Vera but that event was postponed.

Simon (15-3) is on a two-fight losing streak. After beating Rani Yahya back at UFC 234 in February 2019 he lost to Urijah Faber in July of that year via TKO. He then lost to Rob Font in December via unanimous decision.

Hernandez (11-2) is 3-1 in the UFC. Following his quick loss at the hands of Donald Cerrone back in January 2019, “The Great” beat Francisco Trinaldo via unanimous decision in July. He was meant to face Islam Makhachev at UFC 249 in Brooklyn, but due to travel restrictions, the fight was off. Hernandez was then meant to face Omar Morales, but the event itself was called off.

Dober is one of the only fighters listed on a two-fight win streak. He beat Marco Polo Reyes in June via TKO and last fought in January, knocking out Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 246. The 31-year-old was supposed to face Carlos Diego Ferreira on May 2 in Oklahoma City before that event was postponed.

All fights will be taking place inside the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The event will be right after UFC 249 on May 9.
