Boxer Admits Dead Cousin Assumed His License

In an update on a story published yesterday, there has been a connection made between the boxer who died in the ring last weekend and the man who’s license he used to compete.

Isus Velichkov, the man who had his boxing license used by Boris Stanchov, confirmed to Bulgarian media outlets on Tuesday that they were in fact cousins.

Per a report from Boxing Scene, the two cousins in no way looked like one another, had made the switch for a year, with Sanchov fighting under his cousin’s identity eight times within that time.

With pro boxing in Albania a relatively new thing, one can assume it was much easier for Velichkov and Stanchov to pull this scheme off, but sadly coming at the cost of Sanchov’s life in the early moments of a fight against Ardit Murja.
