Boxing Fights That Should Happen In 2023

2023 is the year of many potential boxing fights in the making.

Most notably, there are four potential fights across four weight classes. Whether any of these fights will take place will depend on the decisions of the promoters, organizers and fighters.

In 2022, we didn’t see many popular fights across different divisions. Instead of waiting for groundbreaking match-ups, the fans had to settle with Anthony Joshua against Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte, and Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin III.

According to Boxing News 24, the four big potential mega-fights for 2023 are as follows:

  • Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Ryan Garcia
  • Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford
  • Deontay Wilder vs. Andy Ruiz Jr
  • David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant

The fight between Spence and Crawford has a huge chance of happening. The talks between the two of them dragged on for months before they eventually walked away and pursued other fights.

According to the information leaked in the negotiations, WBO welterweight champion Crawford is not satisfied with the deal. Both fighters have wasted a lot of time negotiating this deal and it looks like the match will finally take place in 2023.

Another fight that is most likely to happen is between Davis and Garcia. The 24-year-old is eager to fight ‘The Tank’, but he has got a roadblock from the Mayweather Promotions.

They have been lining up Davis to fight against weaker opposition. Although Garcia has many problems of his own, he is still better than the competition faced by the 27-year-old.
