Boxing Missing From The Initial Olympics Program For Los Angeles 2028

Three important sports including boxing, weightlifting and modern pentathlon have not appeared in the initial program for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

This Thursday, the International Olympic Committee session held in Beijing approved a program that included a total of 28 sports. Some of the exciting sports included in the list were skateboarding, sports climbing and surfing.

The remaining sports will be proposed by the LA committee in 2023. If boxing, weightlifting, and modern pentathlon will successfully be able to address all of their internal issues soon then they can be added to the program by the year 2023.

The international federation of boxing is expected to address the affair publicly. The AIBA has often been urged to raise the values of the sport by enhancing its refereeing system and improving judging processes.

In September, there was an independent investigation that found out about a system introduced by the boxing officials in Rio Olympics 2016. It exploited the outcome of boxing matches and tarnished the reputation of the sport.

Moreover, weightlifting has to resolve the allegations of doping that have occurred quite frequently in the competitions. Whereas, modern pentathlon must finalize its pending replacement of showjumping to get into the Olympics list.
