Boxing Promoter Ken Thompson Dies At 85

Thompson developed world champion Danny Roman

Ken Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Thompson Boxing Promotions, has passed away at the age of 85.

Thompson was a highly esteemed boxing promoter who devoted two decades of his life to advancing the sport in Southern California.

During his career, he was renowned for his enthusiasm, dedication, and steadfast commitment to boxing and the boxers he represented.

Kenny’s passion for boxing began in Lubbock, Texas, shortly after he was born. His career in boxing promotion started in the first few years of the 2000s, and he rapidly gained recognition.

He had a special talent for recognizing the potential in young boxers, making him one of the most esteemed figures in the sport.

Despite never quite being considered a “big-time” promoter, Thompson Boxing managed to keep boxers in the southern California area busy for several years.

Additionally, he was involved in the development of some top-notch fighters, including recent world champion Danny Roman and world title challenger Ruben Villa.

Kenny’s influence on the boxing scene in Southern California will remain, serving as an inspiration to the next generation of boxing enthusiasts to follow their dreams.

The family would be grateful if donations were made in memory of Kenny to the Wounded Warrior Project. If you would like to get involved, find out more on the link here: https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
