Braekhus To Main Event Final HBO Card On Dec. 8

HBO’s final boxing card will see pound-for-pound fighter Cecilia Braekhus will defend her undisputed welterweight championship.

Braekhus steps in to defend her title on December 8th against Polish-born Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes, who was initially set to fight Ashleigh Curry this month but was tapped for this major opportunity.

“I’m thrilled to be announcing my next title defense against Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes,” said Braekhus. “I know Aleksandra very well and this will be a very tough challenge for me.”

The undefeated fighter would add at a press conference to announce the fight that, “I’m defending all the belts as you see in front of me. They represent a life-time of hard work. Hopefully when it becomes time to retire I can do so undefeated, that is my dream, that is my goal.”

“It’s been my dream to fight Cecilia and I can’t wait to fight her,” said Magdziak-Lopes. “She is the best women’s fighter in the world and has been for many years but on December 8 I will be up to the challenge and come out victorious with her titles.”

The co-feature will see the return of Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez in a 10-round super flyweight clash against Pedro Guevara.
