A pro boxing match between YouTube star Jake Paul and former Bellator and ONE Championship titleholder Ben Askren is set.
ESPN’s Ariel Helwani took to his Twitter account to reveal that Paul vs. Askren has been booked. Triller, the promoter of Paul vs. Askren, made it official through founder Ryan Kavanaugh.
Jake Paul will fight Ben Askren in an eight-round pro boxing match on April 17, per Triller founder Ryan Kavanaugh. The fight will serve as the main event of the next Triller Fight Club card. Location TBD.

Back in December 2020, Askren appeared on Submission Radio and expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Paul in any fighting discipline, including boxing (h/t MMAFighting).
“Most people are like, oh, I don’t know why Ben Askren would stoop to that level. It’s like, listen, when I was in high school, one of the fun things to do was, a bunch of dudes would come over to the house, we’d put on some boxing gloves and we’d try to beat the shit out of each other. Like, we did that for free, we just did that for fun. And now you’re telling me you’re gonna pay me a whole bunch of money to beat up a YouTube star. Like, I don’t know, that just sounds like a fun Friday night to me…
“Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing, Lethwei. Name the style. You name the style, I’ll win.”
Askren retired from pro MMA competition following his October 2019 submission loss to Demian Maia. “Funky” cited a potential hip replacement as the reason. Askren was able to avoid the procedure and instead underwent Birmingham Hip Resurfacing.
Paul’s trainer, BJ Flores, has been adamant about getting the Internet personality in the ring with an MMA fighter next. If all goes according to plan, he will get his wish in the spring.
