BREAKING NEWS: Anatoli Muratov Steps In For Sven Elbir To Face Chris Eubank Jr. On October 2

Chris Eubank Jr. will be facing a new opponent on October 2.

WBA No. 7 ranked Anatoli Muratov (24-2-1, 17 KOs) replaces Sven Elbir who tested positive for Covid-19 and was forced to withdraw from the 12-round middleweight contest.

“This is a fantastic moment for me,” Muratov said. “It will be an honor to fight at The SSE Arena, Wembley and to test my skills against a boxer like Chris Eubank Jr. I’m jumping on this opportunity because that is what warriors do.”

Muratov, a German boxer, is a former WBA intercontinental middleweight champion and German super middleweight champion. The 33-year-old has not been defeated in his last 17 bouts and has won 60% of his wins via knockouts.

According to promoter Kalle Sauerland, Muratov was already gearing up for a chance like this.

“Muratov was on standby,” Sauerland said. “He was in the gym preparing for a fight next week when the opportunity came.”

Eubank, 32, has held championships in middleweight and super middleweight including the WBA interim middleweight title, the IBO super middleweight title and the British middleweight title.

He is on a four-fight winning streak, most recently over Marcus Morrison in May.
