Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) and “Jojo” Diaz (32-1, 15 KOs) finally agreed to a lightweight matchup after weeks of talking and Garcia’s brief break from the sport to focus on his mental health.
Garcia is coming off one of his best career performances, which was in January against Luke Campbell. He scored a seventh-round TKO. Diaz meanwhile had a big win of his own when he won his lightweight debut for the WBC interim world lightweight title.
