BREAKING: Yet Another UFC 256 Bout Canceled Due To COVID-19

The UFC 256 card continues to be plagued with bout cancelations.

UFC 256 has been hit hard. In the early stages, the hope was that Kamaru Usman would defend his UFC Welterweight Title against Gilbert Burns at the event. That plan didn’t materialize. A bantamweight title fight between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling and a women’s featherweight title bout between Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson were also pulled from the card.

Now we have yet another removal. The planned strawweight battle between Tecia Torres and Angela Hill is off.

In an Instagram post, Hill revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19 and has been removed from the UFC 256 card as a result.

“Unfortunately I tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t be fighting next week. Tried to stay as safe as possible during fight camp but with MMA training there’s virtually no social distancing. Was really looking forward to running it back, maybe we still can in the near future.”

As of now, the main event for UFC 256 is scheduled to be a UFC Flyweight Title fight. Champion Deiveson Figueiredo will put his gold on the line against Brandon Moreno. Both men recently fought in separate bouts on November 21 but will get a quick turnaround as a new main event was needed for UFC 256.
