Brian Castano, Sergio Martinez and Andy Ruiz Jr. Pay Tribute To Manny Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao has been boxing professionally for 26 years, and three boxers paid tribute to his nearly three-decade journey.
Brian Castano, Sergio Martinez and Andy Ruiz Jr spoke highly of Pacquiao — an eight-division world champion – on Wednesday ahead of his super welterweight title fight against Yordenis Ugas on Saturday.
I want to send a big hug to an idol, such as Manny Pacquiao, a source of pride for every boxer,” Castano said in the video. “He’s exemplary, the best boxing has ever had. He’s set an example.”
Castano has held the WBO light middleweight title since February 2021. He previously held the WBA interim light middleweight title from 2016 to 2018.
“A byproduct of decades of giving his all with absolute passion,” Martinez added. “I think he is one of the top four or five champions that the sport of boxing will ever see.”
Martinez is a middleweight boxer with 53 wins and three losses with 30 knockouts.
“A shout out to Manny Pacquiao, we’re rooting for you,” Ruiz said. “… I know you got a tough fight, but you got this, brother. God bless, good luck.”
Ruiz is a former unified heavyweight champion and has defeated Anthony Joshua to win the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles in 2019. He became the first male boxer of Mexican heritage to become a world heavyweight champion.
